It all started with three we-can-change-the-world vegans chatting over a bottle of wine and wondering what more we could do. The three of us (Andrea, Janel and Laine) were already spending a lot of time together planning Calgary’s first VegFest. VegFest Calgary was (and continues to be) such an amazing outlet for our style of activism and connection to our local community, but we had a feeling that we could do even more for the movement.
We asked ourselves how could we reach the most amount of people as possible to share our love for veganism?
First bottle down, we realized we all had at one point played with the idea of designing pro-vegan graphic tees. Second bottle down, we had the name of our company and the rest was history.
We started from offering two designs on a tank and a sweater to now offering over 10 designs with styles including tanks, t-shirts, toques, totes (say that really fast 5x lol), sweaters, stickers, and dad hats. Since our company was launched, we have now donated nearly $3000 to local animal sanctuaries and traveled to 18 (and counting) festivals and markets across North America.
The beautiful cities we have seen, the incredible people we have met, the experiences we’ve had, the skills we’ve gained, and the memories we have shared have contributed without a doubt to make the past 3 years the best of our lives. We could not have started the company without each other and we would not be here without amazing humans like you supporting our vision and reppin’ TVTM along the way! We hope to continue to inspire others to engage in effective activism and spread awareness around compassionate living.
The animals are at the heart of what we do. That’s why $1 from every item goes towards two Alberta farmed animal rescues: The Alice Sanctuary and Robin's Refuge. These sanctuaries provide love, healing and forever homes to over one hundred animals including horses, donkeys, goats, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs.
We are proud to say that we have donated nearly $3000 to animals in need (and counting!).
The Alice Sanctuary
The Alice Sanctuary provides love, care and healing for rescued/ surrendered/ abandoned farmed animals. Drawing from the resiliency and life-affirming presence of the animals who live there, the goal of The Alice Sanctuary is to empower, encourage, and inspire visitors to find the tools they need to go out and make a positive change in the world around them. The Alice Sanctuary promotes an atmosphere of compassion and empathy for animals through advocacy, education, and inspiration. By engaging with people participating either in their integrative or volunteer programs, they foster a sense of empowerment, and encourage visitors to aid in finding the tools they need to go out and make a change in the world around them.
Robin's Refuge is a sanctuary for farmed animals which is ran by a daughter and mother duo. They are dedicated to providing lifelong homes to the animals in their care, all of whom have come from situations of abuse, neglect and/or ignorance. They are committed to advocating for these animals through public education. Farming is deeply woven into the fabric of Alberta, and sadly there is much misinformation as to the treatment and care of animals used for livestock purposes. They strive to teach humane treatment of animals, alternative lifestyle options that include more environmentally friendly choices, and to remove the ignorance that surrounds animal-based industries.
Veganism isn't just about saving the animals. It also is about the impact we have on other humans as well as the planet we all share. Our goal is to bring you effortless style, comfort and quality. We want you to LOVE your TVTM apparel and feel good about its history.
It is important to us that we work with manufacturers that share our values of promoting a kind and just world. That's why all of our clothing is made in Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) certified factories.
Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) is a non-profit dedicated to promoting safe, lawful, humane, and ethical manufacturing around the world through certification and education. Head to Wrapcompliance to find out more.
Fun Fact: all our sweaters and tees are made - woven, dyed, cut, sewn - in Ontario and our decoration is done locally in Calgary, Alberta by master of her trade, Marlene Lemay, owner of Embroidery Classics.
All sweaters are made from 30% bamboo and 70% organic cotton. All tees (are pre-shrunk!), totes, toques and dad hats are 100% cotton.
